ACTION: INFORMATION: X
On December 7, 2005, the Board of Supervisors held a work session on proposed changes to various sections of the Comprehensive Plan regarding transportation. At that meeting, the Board of Supervisors requested staff to schedule a public hearing for amendments to the Transportation Section of the Comprehensive Plan. The Board decided not to include the transportation recommendations in the Development Areas Profiles as part of the this amendment, instead leaving those changes to be made as part of more comprehensive updates of those sections that would be made with Master Plans.
3.1 Make the County a Safe and Healthy Community in which citizens feel secure to live, work and play.
The primary purpose of this amendment is to incorporate the MPO’s adopted Charlottesville-Albemarle Regional Transportation 2025 Plan, the recommendations of the adopted Regional Bicycle, Pedestrian and Greenway Plan, and the recommendation the of the Rural Area Transportation Long Range Plan. These plans make up the adopted UnJAM-CHART 2025 Regional Transportation Plan (hard copy given to Board of Supervisors members at December 7, 2005 meeting). Please find in Attachment A the proposed Transportation Section of the Comprehensive Plan. The changes are identified in bold and strikethrough. Please find in Appendix B of the Transportation Section of the Comprehensive Plan the Jefferson Area Bicycle, Pedestrian and Greenway Plan.
Staff and the Planning Commission have recommended approval of CPA 2005-001 Land Use Transportation Update. The Board of Supervisors may approve the amended Transportation Section of the Comprehensive Plan after input from the public.
