COUNTY OF ALBEMARLE
Public hearing for Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport Master Plan Update
Messrs. Cilimberg, Benish, Wade
AGENDA DATE: ITEM NUMBER:
January 11, 2005
The Planning Commission approved a resolution of intent to amend the Comprehensive Plan to include, by reference, the update of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport Master Plan at their December 14, 2004 meeting. Additionally, the Planning Commission provided comments on the Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport Master Plan and directed staff to schedule a public hearing. Attachment A is the December 14th worksession staff report, which provides an overview of the improvements proposed in the Plan. Please note that the December 14th report inadvertently omitted the future runway extension. However this was discussed with the Planning Commission at the worksession.
3.1 Make the county a Safe and Healthy Community in which citizens feel secure to live, work and play.
The Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport is specifically mentioned in two sections of the Comprehensive Plan – the Transportation Section (pages 189 and 191 of current Land Use Plan) and in the Hollymead Community Section (page 82 of the current Land Use Plan). Staff has provided (on Attachments B and C) the proposed changes to the text of the Comprehensive Plan incorporating the updated Master Plan. The new language is in bold italics and the old language is struck through.
Staff recommends the Planning Commission to hear public comment and adopt the proposed language revision found on Attachments B and C. Staff will schedule a public hearing with the Board of Supervisors.
