Join Us to Shape the Future of Development in the Rio+29 Area!
5/2/2017

Please join us for a community open house on the future of the Rio+29 intersection! On Thursday, May 11 from 7 - 9 pm, at 400 Albemarle Square in the Albemarle Square Shopping center, community members are invited to roll up their sleeves and join the design process for the Rio+29 Small Area Plan.

A short presentation will be followed by a "pin-up" review of sketches developed by the Rio+29 Small Area Plan Technical Committee earlier that day - come and go as you please. The sketches will focus on transportation connections and building forms. Attendees will be invited to react to these, as well as land uses, amenities, and identities for the area.

We hope to see you there!

About the Small Area Plan Technical Committee

The Small Area Plan Technical Committee is comprised of a work group, which meets regularly to collaboratively develop the Phase II draft work products, and a steering committee, which reviews and provides feedback around key project milestones. Members include community and business stakeholders. The Small Area Plan Technical Committee will meet at the Northside Library from 3 - 6 pm on May 11 to develop the sketches for the community open house described above. This session is also open to the public.

About the Rio+29 Small Area Plan

A Small Area Plan is a planning tool used to define a detailed plan for urban development and redevelopment in a focused area of strategic importance. The Rio+29 Small Area Plan will devise a vision for the area around Route 29 and Rio Road and create a roadmap for implementation. The vision is guided by stakeholders that live, work, and play in and around the area and by the strategic goals adopted by the Board of Supervisors through the Comprehensive Plan, Places29 Master Plan, and Strategic Plan. The Plan will help incorporate the new Rio Road Grade-Separated Intersection with future land use, transportation and capital projects in the area.
