Carrsbrook Drive Update
11/2/2015

The Carrsbrook Drive Pipe Replacement Project is finally underway. A pre-construction meeting was held with the ACSA and VDOT this past week and in an effort to complete this important project before the winter and Christmas holidays, the project will begin next week. Please note the following schedule.

  • Week of November 2 – surveying and waterline preparation work will begin. Partial lane closures will occur during this week but traffic in both directions will be allowed through the work zone. Expect and plan for delays.
  • Week of November 9 – Detour signage will be posted and water line outage will occur (Nov 11). The ACSA has issued a letter to all residents affected by the water outage with further details. Partial lane closures will occur during this week but traffic in both directions will be allowed through the work zone. Expect and plan for delays.
  • Week of November 16 – Carrsbrook Drive to be FULLY CLOSED starting on 11/16 for approximately 4 weeks.

This project is being completed out of necessity to ensure the integrity of the road and dam. The previously completed temporary repairs have begun to fail and immediate action is required to protect the public from a potential safety hazard. Your patience and understanding are appreciated.

Project updates will be posted at /department.asp?department=fd&relpage=19544. If you have specific questions about the project, please contact Frank Pohl, Senior Project Manager, Albemarle County Office of Facilities Development, by e-mail fpohl@albemarle.org, or by phone at (434) 872-4501 (ext. 7914).
