Planning Commission Public Hearing on the Proposed Comprehensive Plan Amendment Study
8/14/2015

The Albemarle County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing regarding a proposed Comprehensive Plan Amendment under consideration to adjust the Development Area Boundary and associated land use designation(s). This public hearing will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 6 PM the County Office Building at 5th Street, Room A, 1600 5th Street Extended, Charlottesville, VA.

A preliminary survey by County staff has found that there presently may be inadequate land in Albemarle County to accommodate the County's endorsed Target Industries (Bioscience and Medical Devices, Business and Financial Services, Information Technology and Defense Security, and Agribusiness, Food Processing and Related Technology) that has access to major transportation facilities, access to multi-directional transportation corridors, proximity or immediate access to public utilities, and proximity to downtown Charlottesville and the University of Virginia. This amendment consideration focuses on lands southwest of the existing Development Area boundary between Interstate 64 and US Route 29 South, generally south and east of the future County park and extending to the approximate location of the third crossover from the Interstate 64 interchange on Route 29 South. For more specific details, please see the Resolution of Intent, which the Board of Supervisors passed on June 10, directing staff to undertake this study.

Members of the public are invited to speak for two minutes to provide their comments to the Planning Commission about the proposed amendment, County review procedures, and relevant regulations and policies of the County applicable to the proposed amendment.
