County Crime Prevention Council Hosting Town Hall to Discuss Implications of Ferguson on Albemarle County
9/25/2014

The Albemarle County Crime Prevention Council (CPC) is hosting a town hall meeting on Ferguson and its implications in Albemarle County. The CPC is a diverse group which works directly with the Albemarle County Chief of Police to discuss difficult issues and provide feedback. The CPC is hosting the event to get community input regarding this very important topic. It is imperative that we learn from Ferguson, receive feedback and work to improve police and community relations.

The town hall meeting will include seven panelists from the community and the ACPD. They are area experts and have unique perspectives regarding topics like militarization of policing and the perception of the department by the public. Each panelist will address different points and then the audience will have the opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions.

The purpose of this meeting isn’t to dwell on what happened in Ferguson but rather to improve our future. We hope to learn from each other, clear up misconceptions and make our police department and our community a better place. We want to have a productive and positive conversation. We believe communication is crucial to our continued success.

Please join us for this event on Monday, September 29, 2014. The meeting will take place at 7pm in the Monticello High School auditorium.
