A Note from Dominion Virginia Regarding Severe Storm Warning in Effect Across Virginia
7/3/2014

A series of severe weather events is expected across Virginia and North Carolina beginning with thunderstorms today and Hurricane Arthur’s arrival expected early Friday. Although our region is not in Arthur’s crosshairs severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon, which could bring heavy lightning, rain and winds through the area.

Customers can prepare for severe weather like this by doing the following:

  • Updating the phone number on their account.  Customers can update the number online through Manage Your Account or by calling our phone number update line at 1-800-222-0401.
  • Bookmark www.Dom.com on their mobile device so they can quickly report an outage if necessary.
  • Put together an emergency preparedness kit with needed supplies such as flashlights, water, medicines, portable radios, extra batteries and non-perishable goods. For more information on how to assemble a kit, customers can visit https://www.dom.com/storm-center/storm-preparation-tips.jsp

After the storms pass, remember to:

  • Report or check the status of an power outage using a smartphone and visiting www.Dom.com or by calling 1-866-DOM-HELP.
  • All downed wires should be considered dangerous—stay at least 30’ away. Customers should report downed wires by calling 866-DOM-HELP. Wire down calls will be directed to a representative so that we may gather details about the condition and location of the wire.
  • If customers see a downed wire that presents an eminent threat to life or property, they should immediately call 911.
