Albemarle Fire Rescue to Demonstrate a Live Burn to Show Importance of Residential Sprinkler Systems

As a part of Albemarle County’s Citizen Fire Rescue Academy, Fire Rescue personnel will demonstrate a “live burn” event to promote the value of residential sprinkler systems. Two areas will be arranged as a typical room in a home, one with sprinkler system and the other without. The side-by-side comparison will illustrate the effects of fire on a home with and without a residential sprinkler system installed.

The event will be held this evening, Thursday, June 14, 2012 starting at approximately 7:15 p.m. at the Hollymead Fire Station, located at 3575 Innovation Drive, Charlottesville, VA  22911.

The Albemarle County Citizen Fire Rescue Academy is designed for people who have a genuine desire to learn about the daily life of firefighters, who want to increase fire and life safety awareness, and who wish to increase the awareness of the services provided by the Albemarle County Department of Fire Rescue.
