Electronic Recycling Event to be Held April 21
4/20/2012

Area recyclers are celebrating Earth Day with a comprehensive electronics recycling event that will provide an opportunity for the safe and environmentally friendly disposal and recycling of consumer electronics, hand-held devices, kitchen and beauty appliances, tools and more.

The recycling event will be held on Saturday, April 21 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the John Paul Jones Arena, located at 295 Massie Road.

Drop-offs are free, but there is a $5 charge for each television and monitor because of the cost it takes to recycle this equipment properly.

All equipment is destroyed and recycled in an environmentally sound manner by a fully permitted recycling facility. Equipment is manually and mechanically
disassembled; shredded into small pieces of metals, plastics, and glass; and separated into reusable commodity streams used to manufacture new materials. All storage devices are completely destroyed by mechanical shredding. No equipment is reused in any manner.

Click here to get the full list of electronic items that will be accepted.
