County Announces Albemarle County Citizen Fire Academy

Are you interested in volunteering for your local fire department, but do not want to wear the gear and put out the fire?  Are you interested in knowing more about how Albemarle County Fire Rescue works? If so, you can sign up now for the Albemarle County citizen fire academy!  Call the main number – (434)296-5833 for more information.

Why a Citizens Fire Academy (CFA)?
This program is designed for people who have a genuine desire to learn about the daily life of firefighters, who want to increase fire and life safety awareness, and who wish to increase the awareness of the services provided by the Albemarle County Department of Fire Rescue.

Who Can Attend?
Anyone who is at least 18 years old, who lives in Albemarle County, and has never been convicted of any crime. Selection of students will be made by application.

How Much Does the Course Cost?
There is no charge to participants. All materials, along with CFA T-shirt, are provided.

When Do Classes Meet?
Classes meet one evening per week for 6 weeks, beginning October 12, 2010. Classes meet on Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
