Enacted in 2004, the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) allows qualified active, retired, or separated law enforcement officers the right to carry a concealed firearm in any jurisdiction in the U.S. or U.S. Territories, with some exclusions.
The annual requirement for firearms training and qualification for sworn retirees of the Albemarle County Police Department can be accomplished by attending firearms training at one of the dates and times listed below. An appointment is required, as spots are limited.
2026 LEOSA Dates
- Friday, August 7, 2026 at 9 am and 1 pm
- Friday, October 9, 2026 at 9 am and 1 pm
- Friday, December 11, 2026 at 1 pm
All training will take place at 3121 Morse Franke Road, Charlottesville, VA 22902.
