If you meet the following requirements, you may register to vote in Albemarle County.
- You are a resident of Virginia and Albemarle County
- You are a citizen of the United States
- You are at least 18 years of age by the next November general election
- You are not registered/planning to vote in another state
- You are not currently declared mentally incompetent by a court of law
- If you are convicted of a felony, it must be an offense that is not a felony recognized at common law in 1870.
The list of applicable common law felonies can be found by visiting the Felony Convictions and Voter Eligibility page on the Virginia Department of Elections website. - If you are convicted of a felony recognized at common law in 1870, you must have your right to vote restored.

Already registered? Report a change of name or address
To remain a qualified voter, the law requires that you notify your local registration office of any change to your name or address. Deadlines are the same as for registering to vote.
