Albemarle County is committed to improving its ability to meet the growing needs of our community by investing in county employees and improving the County's systems. In FY25, the County continued to invest in employees through position adjustments and leadership and management training. Additionally, the County modernized its financial and Community Development systems to better meet the needs of county residents and staff. In FY26, the County will continue its work to recruit and retain dedicated public servants to advance all the County goals.

Workforce & Customer Service

  • The County successfully launched and implemented a new Financial Management System and Community Development System. 
  • Human Resources conducted benchmark analysis on 45% of 377 positions, and adjusted 42 of them.
  • The County held two training conferences for local government supervisors, dedicated to improving skills and building relationships across the organization. Over 100 staff from all levels participated in in-person workshops covering skills such as mediation and consensus-building.
  • The position vacancy rate fell below 5% in February 2025, and has since remained under the target of 6%.
