In FY25, Albemarle County continued its strong commitment to safety and public well-being of its residents through innovative initiatives and highly responsive services that enhance access to existing resources.

The majority of the FY25 performance targets for this goal were met or exceeded, thanks to efforts from the County Police, Fire Rescue, and Human Services departments. These achievements reflect the County’s continued progress and dedication to improving access and rectifying barriers to services for a safer and healthier County.

FY25 Goal 1

  • 95% of calls for service in rural areas were met in under the 21 minute response time goal.
  • 100% of Albemarle County Local Incident Management Team (IMT) roles were filled and credentialed. Thus, local government will no longer rely directly on regional resources for IMT support for lower-level incidents.

  • Fire Rescue completed 959 smoke alarm installations for community members.
