Albemarle County adopted the County Executive form of government. In this form of government, the County Executive is the administrative head of the county, appointed by the Board of Supervisors. Albemarle County’s County Executive is Jeff Richardson

The County Executive department is the administrative hub for the day-to-day operations of Albemarle County Local Government. The department has two divisions: Communications & Public Engagement and the Performance and Strategic Planning Office.
