Albemarle County Parks Update: Parks Are Open — Please Use Caution ⚠️
Albemarle County parks are now open to the public. As ice and snow continue to melt, some areas may still be slick or muddy, and conditions can change quickly.
❄️ Please keep these safety reminders in mind:
• Trails, parking areas, and shaded spots may remain icy or slippery in some areas.
• Avoid walking on ponds, creeks, and lakes. Ice thickness is inconsistent and unsafe.
• Use extra caution while hiking and consider altering routes if conditions feel hazardous.
• Keep dogs on a leash. Melting ice can be dangerous for pets and their owners.
• Playgrounds may be unsafe due to icy and frozen surfacing from current winter conditions — as always please use caution, exercise good judgment, and supervise children closely when visiting park play areas.
Our Parks & Recreation crews will continue to monitor and address conditions as needed. We sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to keep our parks safe and accessible.
Thank you for looking out for one another, and please enjoy our parks. Visit Albemarle.org/parks for additional updates, current programs, and seasonal opportunities.
