Post Date:08/07/2026The Albemarle County Police Department has charged an 18-year-old Charlottesville man in connection with a June 2026 shots-fired incident.
On Wednesday, June 17, at approximately 12:45 a.m., ACPD responded for reports of gunshots in the 2400 block of Peyton Drive. Responding officers located numerous shell casings and property damage. No injuries were reported from this incident.
After further investigation, ACPD has charged Jaqaruis R. Michie with:
-Attempted malicious wounding (§18.2-51)
-Gang participation (§18.2-46.2)
-Use of a firearm in commission of a felony (§18.2-53.1)
Michie is currently incarcerated at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail on charges unrelated to this incident. He remains in custody at this time.
