🗳️ August 4 Primary Election: Early Voting Starts Thursday, June 18!
Primary Election Day is Tuesday, August 4, 2026. Make sure you're ready to vote for candidates for U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives.
✔️ Register or update your voter registration by 5 pm on Friday, July 24. Check your voter status and choose your preferred way to vote. There are a few ways to vote:
• Early in-person*
• Vote by mail (absentee)
• In-person on Election Day (August 4, from 6 am to 7 pm)
*Early In-Person Voting runs June 18–August 1 at the 5th Street County Office Building (Conference Room A) in Albemarle County. Directional signs and volunteers will be on-site.
Hours for Early Voting:
• Mon–Fri (June 18–July 31): 8:30 am–5 pm (holiday closures June 19, July 3)
• Saturdays (July 25 & Aug 1): 8:30 am–5 pm
• Sundays (July 19 & July 26): 11 am–4 pm
Voting by Mail? Submit your absentee ballot application by July 24 at 5 pm. If you miss that deadline, you may still be able to vote using Same Day Registration (provisional ballot).
Ballot Deadlines and Reminders:
• Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and received by 12 pm on August 7.
• Ballot Drop Box at the 5th Street County Office Building: drop off by 7 pm on August 4.
• Use the pre-addressed envelope sent with your mail-in ballot to mail your ballot to the Voter Registration Office at 1600 5th Street, or drop it in the ballot drop box at the front entrance to the building.
>>Parking Notice: Construction is underway for the roundabout at the Route 780/631 intersection in Albemarle County, near the 5th Street County Office Building—please follow all posted signs and allow extra time.
