Albemarle County Police Department Makes Arrest Following Cybertip

The Albemarle County Police Department (ACPD) has arrested a Charlottesville man following a months-long investigation into a cybertip.

In January 2026, investigators with ACPD received a tip from the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (SOVA-ICAC) of potential child sexual abuse material being viewed in Albemarle County.

As a result of the investigation, ACPD arrested 27-year-old Jonathan R. Rodriguez on Monday, May 18, 2026, with one felony count of possessing child pornography (§18.2-374.1:1) and four felony counts of possessing child pornography, second or subsequent offense (§18.2-374.1:1).

Rodriguez is being held without bond at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
