Post Date:05/15/2026
The Albemarle County Police Department (ACPD) responded to two fatal motor vehicle crashes on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

At approximately 2:35 p.m., ACPD and Albemarle County Fire Rescue (ACFR) were dispatched to the 7500 block of Scottsville Road in Scottsville for a crash involving two vehicles. Upon arrival, first responders located three individuals in life-threatening condition and immediately initiated life-saving measures. All three were transported to UVA Health.

The driver of one of the vehicles, 19-year-old Tripp M. Dwyer of Beaver Falls, Pa., later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Later that evening, at approximately 10:39 p.m., ACPD and ACFR responded to a second motor vehicle crash involving a single vehicle in the 3100 block of Fontaine Avenue Extended. Upon arrival, first responders found a vehicle that had left the roadway and struck a tree.

The vehicle was occupied by three people, and one passenger was ejected during the crash. First responders again immediately initiated life-saving measures, and all three were transported to UVA Health in life-threatening condition. Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.

The passenger that was ejected later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The deceased passenger has been identified as 19-year-old Walker W. Fendley of Charlottesville, Va.
