Albemarle County Police Department Makes Arrests Following Online Operation

An online operation focused on the solicitation of minors led by the Albemarle County Police Department resulted in the arrest of two men.

During this three-day operation, officers engaged with 30 individuals across multiple platforms. As a result, ACPD arrested:

• Amanullah Ahmedzay, 20, of Charlottesville, Va., with one felony count of use of a computer for sexual offense with a minor (§18.2-374.3b)

• Daniel W. Baer, 32, of Crozet, Va., with one felony count of indecent liberties with a child under the age of 15 (§18.2-370) and one felony count of use of a computer for sexual offense with a minor (§18.2-374.3b)

Both men are being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail without bond.

ACPD would like to thank the Charlottesville Police Department and Greene County Sheriff's Office for their assistance in the operation. All three agencies are members of the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (SOVA-ICAC).
