At approximately 9:40 p.m., ACPD and Albemarle County Fire Rescue responded to a motor vehicle crash in the 2300 block of Peyton Drive. Upon arrival, first responders discovered that the driver was suffering from a gunshot wound. Further investigation revealed that the victim was shot in the area of Four Seasons Drive prior to the crash. The victim was transported to UVA Health in critical condition.

While officers were investigating the crash and the shooting on Four Seasons Drive, officers heard gunshots nearby at approximately 3:30 a.m. Subsequent 911 calls led officers to the area of Inglewood Drive and North Berkshire Road. Multiple shell casings were recovered from the scene, but no injuries or property damage was reported.

The investigation into both incidents is ongoing. Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives do not believe at this time that the two incidents are connected.

ACPD is asking anyone who may have information on either incident to call Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000. Callers may remain anonymous.
