We’re excited to share updates to Albemarle County’s public-facing GIS services: the GIS Viewer and GIS Data Download page. These tools provide easier access to property and mapping information and are available on the GIS Office page.

The County Maps page is also being refreshed to improve its content and functionality. While those updates are underway, the updated GIS Viewer is the best place to explore County mapping data.

We know these services are an important resource for residents, businesses, and partner organizations. That’s why we’re committed to providing reliable, easy-to-use GIS access and continuing to modernize these tools to better serve the community.

What's New in the GIS Viewer

The GIS Viewer has been upgraded to improve usability and access to key property data. Highlights include:

• New URL: Access the GIS Viewer at www.albemarle.org/gisviewer. We encourage users to update any saved bookmarks.
• Improved Search: Enhanced search tools return broader and more accurate results.
• Parcel Filtering: Easily filter parcels by various characteristics using a simplified interface.
• Sketch & Measure Tools: Draw directly on the map and measure distances or areas with customizable units.
• Map Printing: Create downloadable PDFs of your customized maps.
• Parcel Information Restored: View parcel cards, improvements, assessment history, and sales history. Export data in formats including CSV, Shapefile, FGDB, KML, JSON, and GeoJSON.

We’re actively working on:

• Adding more data layers
• A more streamlined parcel information browsing experience
• Expanding filters
• More dynamic printing options

GIS Data Download

The GIS Data Download page is live, with most datasets available. Remaining datasets will be added as they’re restored. Visit the page regularly for updates.

County Maps: Still Under Maintenance

The County Maps page is currently under maintenance. We’re modernizing its content and functionality. In the meantime, we encourage users to explore the updated GIS Viewer for mapping needs.
