| Introduction/Overview/Duties | The MACAA Board of Directors is responsible as the legal and policy making entity of the organization. MACAA is the antipoverty agency serving Albemarle County along with the City of Charlottesville, Fluvanna, Louisa and Nelson Counties. The Board is responsible for (a) identifying community needs, (b) establishing agency goals and objectives, (c) approving program plans and priorities (d) determining personnel, fiscal and program policies, (e) approving proposals for funding support, (f) ensuring compliance with funding regulations, and (g) employing the Executive Director. |
| Length of Term | There are no limits on the terms of persons appointed to represent elected public officials. |
| Frequency/Times for Meetings | Full Board meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month beginning at 6:00 p.m. Committee meetings are held at various times in accordance with the schedules of participating members. |

| Qualifications | A sensitivity and awareness of poverty issues are important attributes, knowledge of the local community is helpful, desire to generate support and interest in the agency's initiatives, and willingness to serve as an advocate for the poor |
