Board/Commission Name Land Use Tax Advisory Board 
Introduction/Overview/Duties The Board serves as an advisory board for the Director of Finance and the County Assessor. It provides advisory opinions to the County Assessor on matters relating to whether a particular applicant’s land qualifies for land use value taxation under the County’s Land Use Value Tax Program. The County Assessor is charged with determining whether a parcel complies with state and local standards. If such standards are not met, land cannot receive land use value taxation. 
Length of Term Two years, beginning September 1. 
Frequency/Times for Meetings Meetings are held on a "as necessary" basis between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. 
Membership The Board consists of three members who serve terms of two years. There is no limit to the number of terms a member may serve. Members are paid $45.00 per meeting Albemarle Code § 2-1105). 
Qualifications A strong background in agriculture, horticulture and forestry use is recommended. Ownership in a farming operation, orchard operation or timber business would be desirable. Members need to be familiar with farming techniques and current forestry practices
