COUNTY OF ALBEMARLE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
Take a minute to share your thoughts about Albemarle County Boards and Commissions
| Board/Commission Name | Consortium of Chief Local Elected Officials for the Workforce Investment Act |
| Introduction/Overview/Duties | The Consortium sets forth the process, procedures, and responsibilities for implementing the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) in the City of Charlottesville and the Counties of Albemarle, Culpeper, Fauquier, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson, Orange, and Rappahannock. Local Elected Officials (CLEOs) take certain responsibilities and actions and form a working relationship with the Workforce Investment Board. The Interlocal Agreement is the document that established the Consortium and spells out the duties and responsibilities. |
| Length of Term | To be set by Board of Supervisors. It is expected that the designation will normally take place at the January meeting when offices and committee assignments are established for the year. This varies somewhat among localities. |
| Frequency/Times for Meetings | Meet quarterly, as established by the Interlocal Agreement. |
| Membership | Members are the CLEOs of each jurisdiction in the Local Workforce Investment Area (ours is designated LWIA VI, Workforce Today), or a designee from the elected body, who is authorized by that body to act on behalf of the Mayor or Chair if the CLEO is unable to attend the meeting. |
