Introduction/Overview/Duties The Charlottesville/Albemarle Airport Authority is the regional airport facility for Central Virginia, providing a multitutde of aviation services.

Frequency/Times for Meetings Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month at 11:00 a.m. in the basement Conference Room of Charlottesville City Hall.  
Membership Three members: City appointment (City Manager or his assistant), County appointment (County Executive or his assistant), and joint City/County appointment (chosen from membership of the Airport Commission). The City and County take turns selecting the joint appointee, who may serve for so long as he/she is eligible to serve as a member of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Joint Airport Commission. Therefore, if a person has served on the Commission for nine consecutive years, and is therefore ineligible for reappointment to the Commission, that person is also ineligible to sit on the Authority and may continue to serve on the Board only until a successor is appointed.
