Board/Commission Name Board of Zoning Appeals 
Introduction/Overview/Duties The establishment and organization of the Albemarle County Board of Zoning Appeals or BZA is established in the Code of Virginia, Section 15.2-2308. The powers and duties of the BZA are also outlined in the Code of Virginia, Section 15.2-2309. 
Length of Term 5 years. 
Frequency/Times for Meetings First Tuesday of each month at 2:00 p.m. in Meeting Room 241 of the County Office Building. Please note there may be exceptions to these dates so please refer to this yearly schedule. 
Membership 5 members. Each member is appointed by the Judge of the Circuit Court and receives such compensation as may be authorized by the Board of Supervisors, from time to time, by ordinance or resolution. Subject to "Conflict of Interests Act." Members are paid $45.00 per meeting, Albemarle Code § 2-1105). 
Qualifications Must be County resident.
