BACKGROUND:

On May 7, 2008, the Board directed staff to initiate an external assessment of the County’s resource management in conjunction with the County’s ongoing continuous improvement efforts. On July 2, 2008, the Board approved the County entering into an agreement with Virginia Commonwealth University’s Commonwealth Educational Policy Institute (CEPI) to conduct this assessment. CEPI delivered its final report to the Board on February 11, 2009. On May 6 and July 1, 2009, the Board received information on staff’s progress and planned actions in evaluating and implementing the recommendations of CEPI’s assessment. This is an update to the information presented in July for the Board’s information.

STRATEGIC PLAN:

Mission: To enhance the well-being and quality of life for all citizens through the provision of the highest level of public service consistent with the prudent use of public funds.
