Safety Implementations on Route 29 at Forest Lakes - Work to install the controller actuated beacons is expected to begin upon completion of the Route 29 Burnley signal installation.
Signal Installation at Route 250/State Farm Boulevard – Construction is complete and the signal was placed in operation on Wednesday, October 22, 2008.
Signal Installation at Route 29/Burnley Station Road – Construction of this signal has begun. Completion is expected in December.

Illegal Signs on Right-of-Way – A draft agreement to allow the County to police illegal signs remains under review by the Attorney General’s office.

Crozet Curbing Issues – The issues related to the high curbing at the intersection of the Route 240 and The Square Road have been reviewed and engineering work is underway to determine if modifications can be made without effecting ADA facilities.
Woodlands Road/ Reas Ford Road Intersection – Residency staff continues to work with the property owner to develop a permanent solution to the sight distance issues. Traffic Engineering staff is also reviewing the location to determine if other traffic control measures may be appropriate.

Owensville Road - Staff has begun to investigate the recently received citizen concerns about maintenance and traffic issues on this route.

Preliminary Engineering

Albemarle County

Route 631 Meadow Creek Parkway, 0631-002-128, C502, B612, B657

This project has been advertised. Bids are due on November 26, 2008.

· Meadow Creek Parkway, U000-104-102 (City portion)

Work is ongoing associated with the Section 106 review that must be done to obtain permit approval from the Corp of Engineers. A minor delay may occur in the advertisement; however, the construction schedule is not expected to be impacted.

· Route 691 Jarmans Gap Road, 0691-002-158, C501

VDOT continues work to update plans to reflect field changes in utilities that have occurred due to development since project design began.

Route 656 Georgetown Road, 0656-002-254, C501

A progress meeting was held October 9, 2008. There was consensus at the meeting to work toward a design that minimizes the impact to adjoining properties and the tree line. A goal has been established to have a public hearing in early 2009.

· Route 743 Advance Mills Bridge, 0743-002-282 P101, R201, C501, B658 (Permanent Replacement Project) Right-of-way negotiations and utility relocation efforts are ongoing. The project remains on schedule for an early 2009 advertisement.

Construction Active Construction Projects

(NFO) PM07-002-351, N501 I-64 Pavement Overlay and Guardrail Upgrades

Paving is complete except under guardrail area.
Snow-plowable pavement marker installation is complete.
Guardrail installation scheduled to commence the week beginning Oct. 13 has been delayed.

PM-7B-08 Scheduled maintenance asphalt overlay

This schedule is complete except for one punch list item to correct a pavement deficiency on a section of Rte. 810 in Albemarle Co.

BRDG-002-796, B672 Rte. 665 Bridge over Buck Mountain Creek superstructure replacement

Preconstruction meeting was held on September 8.
Maintenance of traffic meeting was held on site on October 1.
Shop drawings for box beams have been approved.
Contractor is scheduled to close Rte. 665 to remove and replace existing superstructure beginning the second week in November.
