Reference: Regional Transit Authority (RTA) resolution
Purpose: The purpose of this memo is to introduce a resolution for Board consideration that endorses the pursuit of enabling legislation that will allow for the formation of a Charlottesville/Albemarle Regional Transit Authority.
Background: Since August, a subcommittee of elected officials has been meeting almost weekly to craft enabling legislation (draft attached) for the next General Assembly session in January 2009. The legislation allows the RTA to include other localities in the region (as well as other local entities such as UVa and JAUNT) at a future time. Upon approval by the Board, this bill will be introduced in January to the General Assembly.
Action Needed: Endorse attached resolution.
