BACKGROUND:
On April 2, 2008, a public hearing was held on the Board of Supervisors' proposed budget for FY 08/09. A public hearing also was held on the 2008 calendar year tax rates.
The attached resolution to set the 2008 tax year or calendar year tax rates must be approved at the April 9, 2008 meeting in order that the printing and mailing of the tax bills can occur in a timely manner.

5.1 Develop a comprehensive funding strategy/plan to address the County’s growing needs.
DISCUSSION:
The attached resolution sets the tax levy for calendar year 2008. The proposed rates are set at $0.71/$100 assessed valuation for real estate, public service and mobile homes for the 2008 tax year and at $4.28 /$100 assessed value for the personal property tax rate, including machinery and tools.
Staff recommends approval of the proposed tax rates.
