BACKGROUND:
On April 4, 2007, a public hearing was held on the Board of Supervisors' proposed budget for FY 07/08. A separate public hearing also was held on the 2007 calendar year tax rates.
The attached resolution to set the 2007 calendar year (tax year) tax rates must be approved at the April 11, 2007 meeting in order that the printing and mailing of the tax bills can occur in a timely manner. State law requires that the Board fix a tax rate on or before April 15th if there is to be a biannual tax collection.
DISCUSSION:
The attached resolution sets the tax levy for calendar year 2007. The proposed rates are set at $0.70/$100 assessed valuation for real estate, public service and mobile homes for the 2007 tax year, and at $4.28/$100 assessed value for the personal property tax rate, including machinery and tools.
Staff recommends approval of the proposed tax rates.
