ACTION: INFORMATION: X
The Places 29 Master Plan process is preparing for the next series of public meetings to be held on May 18 and 20, 2006. The purpose of these meetings is to solicit comment on and reaction to the three proposed framework plans that were developed by the consultant based on public feedback gathered to this point in the process, with the objective of identifying a preferred plan that will provide the direction for the master plan process from this point forward.
Objective 2.1.1 – Neighborhood Master Plans
Since the last public charrette that was held in November, 2005, the consultants working with staff and the Places29 project team have refined public comments and feedback into three framework alternatives that show contrasting approaches to land use and transportation elements in the plan area. Those three framework alternatives were shown to the Planning Commission and Board members in February during a brief overview by the consultant, and were reviewed in more detail by some Commissioners and Board members in meetings following that work session. Since that time, work has been done to increase the clarity and comprehensibility of the maps in preparation for the upcoming charrette. Staff would like to orient Board members to the refined maps and explain the upcoming charrette schedule and format so that Board members can be aware of and familiar with the material well in advance of the public meetings. Similar sessions will be held with the Planning Commission and with the community stakeholders group on May 2.
