The Places 29 transportation and master plan project is underway, with a Citizens Planning Academy and first public meeting held in May, 2005. The process has involved significant public participation to this point, and two public meetings and other project activities are scheduled for the first week of November as the next major step of the master plan process. This discussion is to inform Board members of the progress of Places 29 and to review upcoming events that will involve members of the Board and the general public.
Objective: 2.1.1 Neighborhood Master Plans
Places 29 is a critical community planning process consisting of a combined transportation study of the Route 29 North Corridor and land use master plan for the four designated urban communities of Albemarle County north of the City of Charlottesville. Public participation has been identified as a critical element of the success of Places 29, and a number of activities have taken place to date to solicit broad and comprehensive input into the process, with the following significant highlights:
The next major opportunity for public input into the process will be two public meetings to be held during the first week of November.
Staff is working on a comprehensive publicity and public engagement plan to ensure continued participation in the Places 29 project.
The Places 29 project is already budgeted for. This update has no additional budgetary impact.
