This executive summary is to update the Board on staff’s effort to develop a work plan for reviewing and updating the Comprehensive Plan. Under Virginia law, the County is required to review its Comprehensive Plan every five years.
Protect the County's Natural, Scenic and Historic Resources
Enhance the Quality of Life for all Albemarle County Citizens
County staff has begun developing a five year work plan for review and updating of the Comprehensive Plan. This work plan is being developed to assure consistency with Virginia law, allow the Board and staff to establish priorities, and assure resources are being efficiently used. In developing this work plan, staff has used the existing sections of the Comprehensive Plan as a basis for work programs. While this work plan is not considered ready for discussion with the Board, staff believes it is appropriate to inform the Board of our intent. As part of a future discussion with the Board, staff hopes to establish an annual process for review and updating of the work plan.
No budget impacts have been noted at this time. The eventual work plan could result in budget impacts, dependent on the direction given
Staff is not requesting any action. This is presented only to make the Board aware of the ongoing staff effort and a future worksession.
