BACKGROUND:
The Thomas Jefferson Planning District works with the County and other localities in the planning district each year to develop a regional legislative program for the General Assembly session. The draft of the 2005 TJPDC Legislative Program is attached for your review.
STRATEGIC PLAN:
Strategic Direction 1. Provide High Quality Educational Opportunities for Albemarle County Citizens of all ages, Strategic Direction 2. Protect the County’s Natural, Scenic and Historic Resources, Strategic Direction 3. Enhance the Quality of Life for all Albemarle County Citizens and Strategic Direction 4. Provide Effective and Efficient County services to the public in a courteous and equitable manner.
DISCUSSION:
The Draft 2005 Legislative Program follows the same format as in prior years, with priority “action items” and a section highlighting some of the most important ongoing concerns. The County’s major issues are included in the draft program.
Staff recommends Board members review the attached Draft 2005 TJPDC Legislative Program, and submit any suggested changes to the County Executive. The Board will be asked to approve the Program at the November 3 Board meeting.
