ALBEMARLE COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
VILLAGE OF RIVANNA MASTER PLAN
Welcome to the website for the Village of Rivanna Master Plan, an important community planning project which will help shape the future of this development area (click here for map). The Village of Rivanna development area is located east of the City of Charlottesville and south of Route 250 East. The Rivanna River forms the southwestern boundary, Route 250 forms the northern boundary, an unnamed stream east of Camp Branch forms the western boundary, and the eastern ridgeline of the drainage area for Carroll Creak/Route 808 forms the eastern boundary. Boundaries are based on resource protection priorties: primarily water supply watershed areas and the opportunity for the geographic area to be adequately supported by public services and facilities.
The Village of Rivanna Master Plan will bring residents, business owners and other interested parties together to map out the best possible shared vision for this critical area of Albemarle County. This website is designed to keep you up-to-date on upcoming Village of Rivanna Master Plan news and events.

Village of Rivanna Master Plan Process Update --
-
The Commission affirmed that the process begun in June of this year follows the guidance established by the Comprehensive Plan and that additional smaller groups should be involved in providing more input into development of the master plan.
-
The Planning Commission will act as an advisory group for the master plan process, and will have regularly scheduled public discussions about the progress of the plan. All interested individuals residents are encouraged to attend those discussions.
-
Additionally, work groups will be set up to focus on areas of particular interest. Topics will include interconnections, land use, Route 250, and areas outside of the current boundary, as well as any other areas of concern to the community.
-
Lastly, the County will hold regular meetings with a stakeholder group that will provide suggestions about how best to meaningfully involve the community in the process and to keep the process open and accessible to everyone. The group will be composed of individuals who are willing to commit additional time and energy to the planning process beyond the major community meetings. This stakeholder group will not act as a decision-making group for issues of actual content of the master plan but will help guide the process to ensure fair and equitable community involvement.
