1. Who do I contact for information about taxes in Virginia and Albemarle County?

Contact the Albemarle County Finance Department at (434) 296-5851.

 

2. Who do I contact for water service, phone service, electrical service, and trash collection? For water service contact the Albemarle County Service Authority at (434) 977-4511. Public water may not be available in your area in which case you will need to contract for the drilling of a well. Phone service is provided by Sprint Communications. Several wireless phone providers are also available. Trash collection in the County is done by independent contractors and not the County. A number of independent contractors are available and you will need to contract for this service.

 

3. Who do I contact for emergency services? For all emergencies dial 911. For general information, please visit the Department of Emergency Communications.

 

4. Who do I contact to enroll my child in school? Contact the Albemarle County Education Department at (434) 296-5881.

 

5. Who do I contact to determine what school district I am in? Contact the Albemarle County Education Department at (434) 296-5861.

 

6. Who do I contact to register to vote? Voter registration is available at the Registrars Office in the Pantops Center. The Registrar may be contacted at (434) 951-6798. Voter registration is also available at the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles and the Albemarle County Service Authority.

 

7. Who do I contact to determine what Magisterial District I am in?

Contact the Department of Planning and Community Development at (434) 296-5823.

 

8. How can I learn about Real Estate information and options in the County of Albemarle?
