EXTENSION OFFICE

The Albemarle/Charlottesville Extension Office provides research based information through educational programs to County and City residents on a variety of topics related to agriculture, horticulture, family and human development, nutrition, and 4-H youth activities. This information is made available through seminars and classes, individual consultations, and organized groups such as 4-H clubs, agricultural commodity groups, and the Virginia Master Gardener Program.

Examples of educational programs and information include:

  • Soil testing
  • Insect, weed, and plant disease identification and management recommendations
  • Commercial horticultural information and consultation
  • Pesticide information
  • Agribusiness advice including crop, soil, and livestock information
  • Food and nutrition, family and human development, finances and resource management information
  • Homeowner horticulture information and consultation
  • Youth development programming including 4-H camping experiences, public speaking, community service projects, and 4-H school enrichment programs
