Do you have questions about coronavirus and what our community is doing to prepare?

First, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) considers the immediate risk of coronavirus (termed “2019-nCoV”) infection to the general American public low at this time.

The Thomas Jefferson Health District (TJHD) is our community’s local public health agency, one of 35 health districts under the Virginia Department of Health (VDH). Personnel there are working closely with VDH and the CDC to respond the rapidly evolving situation around 2019-nCoV. TJHD has plans and systems in place to prepare for and respond to diseases and are working closely with their health care partners to quickly identify any potential cases and implement steps to reduce the risk of the disease spreading, should the case be confirmed.

VDH has established an information page, This page includes fact sheets and the number of patients tested in Virginia and the results.
If you have further questions, you can call the TJHD directly at 434-972-6217.
