Albemarle County officials meet with US Congressman Denver Riggleman

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA - US Congressman Denver Riggleman met with Albemarle County officials this morning. Board of Supervisors Chair Ned Gallaway and Supervisor Diantha McKeel, School Board Chair Jonno Alcaro, County Executive Jeff Richardson, Assistant County Executive Trevor Henry, and Legislative & Public Affairs Officer for Albemarle County Public Schools Helen Dunn participated in the discussion, which lasted approximately one hour.

“We value the opportunity to meet face-to-face with Congressman Riggleman and to discuss our shared commitment to serving our community,” reflected Gallaway. “Here at the local level, federal support is critical to free up local resources, so that we can fund local priorities. In addition to supporting public education, skilled trade internships, and local employment opportunities in the defense industry, we asked Congressman Riggleman for support for the Mobility on Demand grant, a forthcoming transit opportunity.”

“Congressman Riggleman has a clear interest in improving the quality of education and we look forward to working with him to benefit not only our schools, but our community,” said Alcaro.  “We were impressed with his interest in expanding business internships for our students and for conversations we had on strengthening student safety and mental health services, closing opportunity gaps and protecting federal funding for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act,” Alcaro said.
