Virginia State Corporation Commission Announces Availability of Hearing Examiner's Report on Cunningham-Dooms Proposed Rebuild

As the demand for electricity has steadily grown, Dominion has continued to replace aging infrastructure across their service territory - in particular, they are working to replace high-voltage lines built and placed into service in the 1960s.

One segment to be rebuilt is an existing corridor located between the Cunningham Substation in Fluvanna County and the Dooms Substation in Augusta County which passes through Albemarle County. No new right of way is needed for Dominion's proposal to rebuild this line.

On March 2, 2016, Dominion filed its application with the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) seeking review and approval. On August 8, 2016 the SCC hosted two public hearings to receive comment on the proposed rebuild. On November 9, 2016, the SCC Hearing Examiner issued his final report and recommendations. In his report, the Hearing Examiner recommends to the Commission, among other things, that there is a need for the project, that Dominion's proposed rebuild project reasonably minimizes impacts, and to issue Dominion a certificate of public convenience and necessity. The case is now before the three SCC Commissioners for review and final order.
