The Charlottesville Albemarle Convention & Visitors Bureau (CACVB) is proud to announce the launch of a series of programs offered at the brand new Albemarle Tourism and Adventure Center located downtown Crozet.

The goal of these programs is to engage visitors and locals alike, about topics related to activities and events that can be enjoyed in the western part of Albemarle County.  The CACVB hopes locals will take advantage of these interesting and informative programs to learn more about our local tourism assets, hence becoming better-equipped to entice friends and family to come visit and enjoy our beautiful destination.

Rivanna River Company will kick things off on Saturday, August 1st from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a session entitled “Learn everything you need to know to start playing on the water in the Charlottesville area!”  The Rivanna River Company will offer tips and hands-on lessons on finding the right place and equipment to paddle, float, or fish with family and friends.

Lee Catlin, assistant to the County Executive for Community & Business Partnerships, shares her enthusiasm about this series of programs.  “Albemarle County is so pleased and excited to see programming underway at the Old Crozet Depot now transformed into the Albemarle Tourism and Adventure Center and the Artisans Gallery,” she says.  “These types of activities will build the visibility of the Center as an energetic destination for locals and visitors who are interested in our outdoor tourism assets.”

The new Albemarle Tourism and Adventure Center is now operational and the CACVB staff is ready to educate visitors and locals about the array of tourism assets to be enjoyed in our area.  This new visitor center is located in the historic train depot in Downtown Crozet, which until recently was home to the town’s library.  The space inside this beautiful building is shared with a consortium of local artisans, the Crozet Artisan Depot, LLC, making it a must-see location for visitors.  The Artisans are also planning to host events such as jam sessions (in partnership with The Front Porch) with local musicians at this location. The jam sessions will be from 7-9 on the third Thursday of each month starting this September.  Please check the event calendar at for a complete list of events.
