Weekend Event Traffic

The Albemarle County Police Department will be assisting with traffic control for the 2014 Charlottesville Women’s Four Miler. The Four Miler is Virginia’s largest all-women event with about 3,500 runners and walkers. The event is this Saturday, August 30th at 8:00 am.

The race is based out of the Foxfield Race Track and will impact traffic in the area. Garth Road will be completely closed between Old Garth Road and Owensville Road. The road closure will be between 7:20 am and 9:30 am. People who live between Old Garth Road and Barracks Farm Road will be allowed to pass through to their homes.

If at all possible, please avoid the area during the race. We want the participants to have a safe and enjoyable event. We also want avoid major traffic congestion. Please avoid the area and expect delays if you are traveling in that vicinity.

The first UVA home football game is also this Saturday, August 30th at noon. ACPD officers will also be assisting with traffic for that event. Please expect delays around Scott Stadium and the University of Virginia.

We ask that you be patient with the delays and enjoy all the events our community has to offer.
