Finance Office Temporary Closures

Albemarle County Revenue and Taxation and Business Taxation Divisions of the Finance Department will be closed to the public on Friday, July 11, 2014, and Monday, July 14, 2014, due to a system conversion that will provide more efficient customer service to our citizens. 

During this period, we will have very limited access to the tax system. For this reason, we will not be able to access your account information to answer your questions or provide you with account information, nor will we be able to process your over-the-counter payments. Questions, address changes, requests for information, and updates can be emailed to There may be a delay in responding to you during this temporary closure period but we will handle inquiries as quickly as we are able. We will reopen on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 8:00 a.m.  

However, during this temporary closure period you may make payments using the following methods:

  • By check or money order at our drop box locations at the McIntire building and the 5th Street complex.
  • By telephone (866-884-9810) or online at using MasterCard, Visa and Discover credit cards, a 3% convenience fee applies. We also accept Electronic Funds Transfers over the phone and online, a $2.50 flat fee applies.
    • For Personal Property (vehicles and other items) you must have account number and payment amount
    • For Real Estate you must have bill number and payment amount

We are very pleased to announce that when we reopen on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, we will be using more modern technology that will allow us to operate more efficiently and provide you with better customer service.
