Albemarle County Police Deparment to Host Upcoming Crozet Car Show

The Albemarle County Police Department is pleased to host the upcoming Crozet Car Show, benefitting the local charity Big C New Me. The Crozet Car Show will be held on Saturday, May 31st at Old Trail Village Center in Crozet. The event is free to the public and will start at 10 a.m. Awards will be presented around 2:30 p.m. and the event will wrap up at 3 p.m.

Multiple vehicle classes are being accepted including hot rods, classic cars, antiques, sports cars, trucks and motorcycles. The Car Show will also feature specialty emergency cars and four antique police cars, including an old ACPD cruiser. Industry experts will be brought in for judging and the public can also vote for their favorite entries. Awards will go to Best-In-Show, Owner’s Choice, Colonel’s Choice and People’s Choice/Big C New Me award.

We invite you to stop by to check out the cars and enjoy the morning in Old Trail. The popular local Bluegrass band “James River Cut-Ups” will be performing, there will be face-painting for the kids and the Old Trail Village Merchants will have plenty of food and beverages to go around.

Kids will also be able to take part in the Youth Bicycle Rodeo starting at 11 a.m. Children are invited to bring their bikes to navigate the track and learn about bike safety from the ACPD Bike Team. Youth bicycle helmets will also be available for any child who needs one, courtesy of the Albemarle County Police Department. Participants are also encouraged to decorate their bikes for the rodeo.

All of the proceeds from the car entries will go to support the local cancer charity Big C New Me. Big C New Me, Inc. is a registered Virginia non-profit organization with a mission of helping cancer survivors reclaim their confidence through image-boosting programs and opportunities. The next Charlottesville event is slated for late July 2014.

Amy Hart, Executive Director of Big C New Me is excited about the event. “Being from Michigan there were always amazing car shows happening all summer long, and that’s something I’ve missed. When Colonel Sellers presented this idea to me, there was no hesitation. We are so appreciative of Albemarle County Police Department’s support.”

Car entries can pre-register for $20 at or can pay $25 the day of the event. To learn more about Big C New Me, you can visit their website
