Final Plans for the New Northside Library to be Discussed with Community November 7

Members of the public are cordially invited to attend the third and final community meeting to discuss Albemarle County’s Northside Library project on Thursday, November 7, at 7:00 pm at the current Northside Library location at Albemarle Square Shopping Center.

This meeting will be led by the project consultants, HBM Architects, and County staff who will present the final plans for the new library.   Meeting attendees also will have the opportunity to view a fire engine from Seminole Trail Volunteer Fire Department on display outside the library from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.

This project will provide a permanent location for the Northside Library at 705 Rio Road (former Phillips Building) and also will provide long-term County warehouse/ storage space at a significant cost savings to the County. The new facility, involving repurposing of an existing building, will provide approximately 30,000 square feet of library space, and over 20,000 square feet of warehouse space.  Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2014 with completion late 2014/early 2015.
