Albemarle Fire Rescue Offer Safety Tips for Fire Prevention Week at Family Fun Day on October 12

October 6-12, 2013 is Fire Prevention Week and this year’s message focuses on preventing kitchen fires. More fires start in the kitchen than in any other part of the home and Albemarle County Fire Rescue will teach how to keep cooking fires from starting in the first place.

Albemarle County Fire Rescue is partnering with Charlottesville’s Fashion Square Mall for “Fire Prevention Week Family Fun Day” on Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Sears parking lot. The event is free, open to the public and fun and informative for all ages.

There will be fire extinguisher training from 10:30 a.m. to noon; a live fire demonstration at 1:00 p.m., information about Albemarle County’s free smoke detector program, pamphlets and giveaways and a moon bounce for the kids!

If you need a smoke detector, need one checked, or have questions about fire prevention or this event, please feel free to visit us at, or by calling 434-296-5833, for further information.
