Albemarle County Police to Participate in National Night Out August 6

The Albemarle County Police Department would like to invite the community to National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Old Trail Village in Crozet.  The kids fishing event will be from 5pm-7pm and the main events will be from 6pm-9pm.
National Night Out promotes police-community partnerships, crime prevention and neighborhood camaraderie.  In support of our switch to Geographic-Based Policing, this event allows the Department to foster positive relationships with the citizens of Albemarle County.

For the first time ever, the ACPD Dive Team will do a demonstration at the Old Trail Swim Club.  The K-9 Unit will also highlight the specific skills of police K-9s.  The Motor Unit will be on hand to show off some of their specialized motorcycle skills.  The Bike Team will host a bike rodeo with an obstacle course for kids.  We will have DUI goggles and a Texting while Driving Simulator as educational tools for drivers.  Children will have the chance to get their fingerprints taken with the Ez Child ID Kit.  Officers will be able to build positive relationships with kids by helping them fish by the pond at Old Trail.  These are just a few of the activities planned allowing officers to educate and interact with the community.

Food will be available for purchase by local merchants of Old Trail.
